Welcome to the inaugural edition of our FOURTEENTH YEAR in business!

We didn't know time would fly so quickly...! Aw who are we kidding...we're old. We're tired. But we've got a SMOKIN paper for you, now on the stands in all locations...so let's get to the good stuff: THIS MONTH'S PRINT HEADLINES. Print headlines are a way for you to see what's in this issue, as well as a way to link over directly to the e-Edition version of each article; pick and choose all day long from this one post! Print Headlines are presented by dateline (the place where the stuff in the article happened), headline with e-Edition link embedded, then a brief synopsis in our snarky Disclosure style. They are laid out here in order of appearance in the magazine: Front Page, Back Page (our "second" front page), Pages 2 & 3, Features if any (usually pages 12 or 13), Egypt, Heartland, Central, and Op-Ed for last even though it's toward the front of the paper (pages 4-7). And no now, without further ado, here's THIS MONTH'S PRINT HEADLINES.

FRONT PAGE

Dennis R. Thacker Jr., Jasper County mugshot

Dennis R. Thacker Jr., Jasper County mugshot

JASPER/LAWRENCE COs. - Arrested on grain theft, obstruction: The big, big, big story about Dennis Thacker and John P. York, occurring during production week and giving everyone (including us) sleepless nights. What all was alleged to have been stolen? What was found in containers or buildings on the property. WHOSE BURGLARY TOOLS WERE THOSE??? We try to answer it for you.

Screen Shot 2016-03-14 at 8.55.57 AMSALINE CO. - Candidate looking to sue Disclosure to prevent coverage: We present to you Jason Kasiar, with a preemptive strike (he hopes) at us, possibly so we won't find out what we've already found out. Jason...really....you should just let this stuff roll off your back. If you wanna be a pol, that's what you've gotta do.

Skinney McKinney

Skinney McKinney

LAWRENCE CO. - Attempted Murder: Skinny McKinney charged: Intensified coverage of what went on with the Skinny McKinney shooting, including backstory and input from people who know him.

LAWRENCE CO. - BEDBUGS BITE: Oh, the wailing and whining going on about this. "Bed Bug Dog"?? Really? There's such a thing? Does the dog end up eating the bedbug when he finds it, or...? Yeah. Ridiculousness has hit its pinnacle. Follow the trash, and you'll find the bed bugs; why? Because it's expensive to get rid of them, and people who don't have the funds or WON'T because they can't give up their booze and satellite TeeVee and $8-a-pack Marlboros won't bother to get their "homes" (paid for by you and I) properly treated. Hey. Maybe the health department will get you a grant. We pay for THAT, too!

RICHLAND CO. - Suspended State Police investigator set for jury trial: This piece is teased on page 1 and jumps to 12. Because it's big. There's more info in this than what we gave you here online the day it happened.

David "Prozac" Prozacki or whatever his name is...

RICHLAND CO. - Methamphetamine trade takes another serious hit in Richland: In all seriousness, I never knew that we were so awash with meth trash in Richland County. I mean, they're like right up the road from us. I want to move.

Screen Shot 2016-03-14 at 8.23.02 AM

CLAY CO. - Three-on-one: Big mess at the end of January leaves young men charged: We're already hearing the griping about THIS article on the beating of Brandon Goodiel. Folks, we just find this stuff in the court files. There's no agenda; we just report it. You got something to say about it, call the tipline or send us an email.

chickenbob for real

HAMILTON CO. - 'Mutual mistake' in land transfer paperwork, says Attorney Wilson: It seems like just a little screwup on the reporting process for a land transfer. But, with ChickenBob in the middle of it, one can never tell.

FEATURE (PAGE 12)

Screen Shot 2016-03-14 at 8.09.23 AM

WILLIAMSON CO. - County commissioner caught red-handed: Poor Ron Ellis. He is obviously interior-decor-challenged. He doesn't understand that a clean house, neat, tidy curtains, carpets without stains, and perfectly beautiful bathroom, all of that equals "not a disaster" when trying to get taxes reduced on the trailer that he is alleged to have ripped off from his elderly mother. He needs to go to that Wayland guy for lessons, I think.

FEATURE (PAGE 13)

Continuation of the Rick White story as teased on Page 1

EGYPT

SALINE CO. - Shoplifter complaint leads authorities to Harrisburg meth operation: You'll remember the players in this little vignette from previous encounters with various enforcers of the law in Saline. And when you're done reading it, you'll have a really clear perception of why they call it "dope."

GALLATIN CO. - Questions arise over how bond was posted before the crime was charged: The mysteries of Allen Roe...which also explain why it's NOT a mystery that Doug Dyhrkopp just beat him in the primary for state's attorney.

GALLATIN CO. - Beating victim refuses to testify: Another one of THOSE situations.

SALINE CO. - Homeless meth felon charged in burglary pens 'will be good' letter to Judge Morris: You will need to have a glass of water and a couple of aspirin next to you when you read this article...because before it's done, I promise you, you will have a headache. I had one for three days after I wrote this article.

SALINE CO. - Broken toilet paper dispenser used as ruse in Harrisburg Huck's heist: You read about the arrest of Tabitha Binkley...now, read the backstory, and when you're done, you'll be asking yourself: HOW can people be THAT desperate...?

HARDIN CO. - E'town woman accused of swiping Kindle: I'm betting she just wanted to read cheap romance novels. But she was too cheap to buy them, so she wanted to download them. From someone else.

GALLATIN CO. - Man jailed after threatening to harm Shawneetown officer: this goes on infrequently in Gallatin, but when it does...ugh.

SALINE CO. - Another poorly-penned prose by prisoner begging "please, please, let me out the door":  Remember that tip I gave you about aspirin...? You know you can take Tylenol a few hours after aspirin consumption (not medical advise; just an observation from experience)...and here's another one of those letters.

SALINE CO. - Misdemeanors continue to clog up court system in Saline: Since no one else is reporting on misdemeanors in Saline on a routine basis, we do. Happy reading.

HEARTLAND

rhoads, kathy

Kathy Rhoads

EDGAR CO. - Paris Chamber executive director fired; public kept in the dark: We pose the question...what do you EXPECT from someone who ran a mainstream newspaper that covered up for the Edgar County public officials for oh so many years....? She saw others get away with murder (literally)...maybe she decided to try HER hand at it.

JASPER CO. - Centralia man charged with sexual assaulting 9-year-old: Way, way, way too much of this going on in this issue.

CRAWFORD CO. - Pair of suspected Hutsonville meth cooks nabbed: These guys are old enough to know better. And we actually say that in the article.

JASPER CO. - Greenup sex offender's charge of fighting with/injuring officer dismissed: Remember Devin Shupe? Punk who ran off with a Watson teen, alleged to have done some child porn of her, then charged with a different sex crime...? Yeah, now he got in trouble for wrasslin with an officer.

CRAWFORD CO. - Five busted in Crawford County drug round-up: The alleged dope report out of Crawford.

CRAWFORD CO. - Another Robinson sex offender off the reservation: We've had a lot of activity this month with the registered offenders...must be something in the water. Too bad it's not LEAD.

JASPER CO. - Olney heroin dealer sent to prison for cheating on pee test: "Teacher!! Teacher...Joanne's cheating on her urinalysis...!"

CRAWFORD/LAWRENCE COs. - $20,000 cash bond set for Lawrence cannabis dealer charged in Crawford with methamphetamine possession: Kedley the weed man has saddened many pot smokers in the area, getting nabbed with the product. Oh, and just a user amount of meth, too.

JASPER CO. - Salem woman tops drunk driving round-up: Crossover! Salem/Marion County....I guess if you can't keep en under control there, send em to Jasper, right...?

CRAWFORD CO. - Sicko formerly of Robinson returns home to drug charge: Read this article. You'll know why we call him "Sicko."

JASPER CO. - Violence and weapons focus of Jasper general crim blotter: The hittin and weapon report out of Jasper.

JASPER CO. - Olney meth felon jailed in Jasper for resisting police: Crossover time! People are finding it difficult to get away with their bad behavior in Richland, so they're crawling somewhere else to allegedly do it...

CENTRAL

Clifford Darrell Jr.

Clifford Darrell Jr.

RICHLAND CO. - Bizarre man who disrupted funeral last summer back in jail AGAIN: Clifford Darrell, the man with two first names. We're getting a little closer to finding out why on earth he did what he did at Shelly Wilkins Stangle's funeral last year. But somebody had better stop this guy before there's ANOTHER funeral....

HAMILTON CO. - McLeansboro man to receive mental evaluation following crime spree: And why not...? Eric Hall really has set a standard for alleged fleeing, B&E, and all kinds of rampant nuttiness...

WHITE CO. - Harrisburg woman jailed for pills in Carmi: The kind of crossover crim story we love to run, because her Harrisburg friends want to read all about it, and the Carmi crew want to read what a H'burg chick is doing in their town. It's a win-win...well, I guess not for her, but...you know...

WABASH CO. - Keensburg man with sex crimes history charged with unlawful restraint and child pornography: Someone, please...put this guy away.

CLAY CO. - Charged with tossing wife out door, she wants contact: And thus remains one of the biggest obstacles of pursuing Domestic Violence charges...one of the partners has a compunction against following through, even after being a victim.

WABASH CO. - Four nabbed in Mt. Carmel on meth charges: The Wabash County alleged dope crim report.

RICHLAND CO. - Flying Monkey shorts lands Clay City woman behind bars: Well well well...despite all those clever Facebook memes, you still can't get those Flying Monkeys to come save you when you're arrested for shoplifting...?

HAMILTON CO. - Traffic arrests include stop signs run, DUI: The gittin report out of HamCo.

WABASH CO. - Violence and trespass keep lawmen busy: The hittin and gittin report out of Wabash County.

CLAY CO. - Olney methamphetamine suspect busted in Flora: This would be why there's such a brisk trade between the two counties...which is how Josh Millman was caught....

WHITE CO. - Gets prison for damaging tires: Bad guy Ben-jammin, slashing tires.

OP-ED

Columns

jack & cactus

Surly & Uncooperative (Jack): The clash of the cactus and the corporal: You've no doubt been following our fascination with the cactus up on the rocky outcroppings of Garden of the Gods, Stone Face and other features of the Shawnee National Forest, courtesy our Facebook pages. Here's how it all started. Not the cactus; we STILL don't know how that got up there. No, here's how our fascination with it started...
Icy (Ang): A tribute to the Bard..? Nah. Just our 14th year: Ang outlines how we came to be (in brief) and what we intend to do (maybe) in the future.
Minkus Ink (Bubba): Question posed: Is Lady Justice's robe saturated with the blood of the innocent? Bubba is thinking deeply this month...and it's pertinent to nearly everybody.
Greygoose (Becky): Becky asks: Hey, why not...? Be a cheapskate! Life as a cheapskate can be fun and fulfilling. Becky tells you how.

Voice of the People (Letters): We have a BUNCH of letters this month. Wow.

Back Over Your Tales (From the pages of the March 2011 edition of Disclosure): The Consolidated Election Edition of Disclosure has not only all the big contested offices in the region, but also has Kelly Henby on the front page...which is a bonus for you, since you can read it (in part, anyway...this was before we had e-Edition) and be in on the first stories ever produced about the nightmare that is Rick White.
