HARRISBURG, Ill. - There was a little excitement this evening at the intersection of Small Street and Commercial.

A line on a power pole got really hot at the insulator, and for a short time, the wooden pole was actually aflame.

The situation emerged at about 6 p.m. today (Monday, March 21) and caused a bit of abruption in traffic at that section of town, which is over in front of Kroger and Aldi.

The entrance to both Aldi and Zephyr Convenience Store/fuel was blocked for a short period of time, as Ameren crews were up at the pole changing out the insulator and making sure everything was running okay.

Harrisburg Police Chief Whipper Johnson, who was parked at the scene, advised that he was happy to help with traffic rerouting so that Ameren could get the work done; Johnson said he was on-scene about 30 minutes or so.

Traffic seemed to be moving through the area okay when the photos were shot. We can't see where any outage was reported; did any of you have an outage? Let us know.
