SALINE CO.— Harrisburg authorities who responded to a female on female throw-down at ROC One, commonly referred to as a catfight, ended up hauling a Harrisburg woman and her Sturgis, Ky., buddy to the county jail.
Court documents show that on May 27, at approximately 8:04 p.m., central dispatch received a call advising there were two females fighting on the ROC One Stop parking lot, located at 303 East Poplar St.
When HPD officer Kenny Shires arrived, he located two vehicles parked side by side in the lot and one of the females standing at the window talking to the other female.
Shires recognized the female seated in the vehicle as Amy L. Lane, 32, of 310 West Mable St., Harrisburg, and the one standing outside the vehicle as 40-year-old Gina M. Parkinson.
After separating the two females, Shires spoke with Parkinson as officers Curt Hustedde, Nick Keltner and Sgt. Bob Smith spoke with Lane.
Parkinson informed officer Shires that Lane and the man in the car with her, identified as James R. Shirel, 60, of 1151 State Rte. 109, Sturgis, Ky., had been driving behind her and her boyfriend, flashing their headlights and so Parkinson pulled into ROC One to see what they wanted and that’s when the fight started.
“Parkinson told me that Lane immediately began to talk to her about drugs and she became angry and grabbed Lane by the hair and informed her not to come to her about or with drugs because she doesn’t want anything to do with it,” Shires said. “And that’s when the police arrived.”
Hustedde said that Lane told him that she and Parkinson were just two friends catching up.
At this point officer Keltner ran Lane, Parkinson and Shirel through the police computer and discovered that Lane was wanted on an arrest warrant out of White County for Failure to Appear.
Lane was taken into custody and transported to the Saline County Detention Center.
The vehicle came back registered to Laura Moore out of Sturgis, Ky.
When Shirel was asked whose vehicle he was driving he said it belonged to his niece.
When asked by Shires what the Niece’s name was Shirel said it was Elizabeth.
Shires informed Shirel that name didn’t match the registered owner and Shirel said that was the only name he knew his niece by.
Shirel claimed he had no way of contacting the niece who loaned him her car.
The decision was made to impound the vehicle until the owner of the car could be contacted and asked if Shirel had permission to drive the vehicle.
While officer Hustedde was giving Shirel a ride to a Harrisburg residence, the remaining officer searched the vehicle in preparation for impounding.
Inside the car officers located one hypodermic syringe, wrapped in aluminum foil in the glove box, one hypodermic syringe wrapped in aluminum foil in the center console, one clear plastic bottle containing one hypodermic syringe, one clear plastic baggy and a piece of cotton swab with liquid on it that tested positive for methamphetamine, one black purse containing three alprazolam.
When asked if he knew anything about the items found inside the vehicle Shirel said he knew nothing and hadn’t seen the items before.
He did, however, admit to being a meth user and to have used several days prior.
Ms. Lane also said she knew nothing of the items found in the vehicle and said they didn’t belong to her.
Lane said the pills in her purse weren’t hers and that maybe Ms. Parkinson had placed them there.
She too admitted to using meth but said she was trying to keep clean.
Lane declined the officer of a urine drug test saying she would probably come back positive for meth.
Shirel was charged with one count each of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Hypodermic/Syringe/Needles.
Lane was charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Hypodermic/Syringe/Needles.
Lane has a serious criminal history in Saline County including a July 2013 conviction for Theft $500-$10,000 for which she was sentenced to probation for 30 months and ordered to pay $3,753.02 in fines and fees.
She has a pending case in Saline from October 22, 2015 in which she is charged with Theft.
And she even has a pending charge out of Saline from May of 2016 in which she is charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Child Endangerment.
In fact, at the time of her arrest, Amy Lane was already serving a conditional discharge sentence of two years out of White County handed her March 14, 2016, after she was convicted there of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
That White County sentence came as part of a plea deal in which charged of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia were dismissed.
She still owes $1,227 in fines and fees in that case.
It is unclear if White County will file to revoke her plea deal.
Cash bond in Shirel’s case was set at $1,000.
Bond information for Lane was not available.
