SALINE CO.— A Galatia man has been sentenced to 52 days in the county jail after admitting he beat his girlfriend.
According to official reports, on May 24, at 1:57 p.m. Galatia officer Mike Herron was informed by Rikki Lee McGehee that her boyfriend, identified as James B. Gawf, 22, of 207 West Walker St., Galatia, got mad at her while they were at his residence and he grabbed her, dragged her from the road into the house and began hitting her with his fist.
McGehee told Herron that she broke free from Gawf and was able to make her way to 222 North Hickory St., where Gawf tackled her, dragged her back to his house and hit her in the head with a plastic bottle.
Gawf was taken into custody and charged with one count of Unlawful Restraint and two counts of Domestic Battery.
The single, unemployed father of none pleaded guilty June 16 to one of the battery charges and was sentenced to 52 days in the county jail, probation for two years and was ordered to pay $3,897 in fines and fees.
