Former Dr. Brian Burns
SALINE CO., Ill. - Media in and around Saline County have been notified that there's going to be a press conference Wednesday (September 28) at 1 p.m. regarding a very high-profile case...and a lot of people are wondering just what could be happening in it.
State's Attorney Mike Henshaw has announced only that the former doctor, Brian Burns, accused of murdering his wife Carla in early March of this year, is facing new charges.
Henshaw hasn't announced in advance what the new charges are or what they pertain to; only that that's the subject of the presser, which will be held at his office in Harrisburg, according to a press release issued this afternoon.
Burns has remained jailed since his arrest in mid-March, unable to post a million-dollar bond. He is accused of shooting his wife, a nursing instructor at Southeastern Illinois College outside of Harrisburg, then burning her body to ashes at the home they formerly shared in the Walnut Grove area of Saline County, this following a bitter divorce that had not been finalized yet. The investigation has been ongoing, and little information has been released since the announcement of charges and waiver of preliminary hearing.
