HARRISBURG, Ill. - Many residents on College Street in Harrisburg were startled Tuesday morning (October 18) when at about 8 a.m., police converged on the neighborhood.
They were present to question one Dusty Ford, 28, who has been formally charged in Pope County on multiple felonies in connection with an October 11 burglary and theft at The Gap bar, located just south of Herod.
Why all the manpower, however, is what remains at question here. It's our understanding from those in the neighborhood that the authorities were also looking for a second suspect in connection with the burglary, which, it's alleged, was of not only the bar but of the gambling machines there. Those machines, we're being told, were demolished, apparently in an effort to get to the money within them.
We're being told that the amount of money retrieved from the machines is int he area of $20,000.
Who the second suspect is, well...that's something authorities are being very closed-off about.
Whatever the case, Ford was taken into custody and lodged at the Saline County Detention Center in Harrisburg. He's been formally charged with Class 2 felony Burglary, Class 2 felony Theft greater than $10,000-less than $100,000, two counts of Criminal Damage to Property (one a Class 3, one a Class 4) and one Class 3 felony count of Theft between $500-$10,000.
A probable cause hearing held in Pope earlier today bound Ford over for trial and reaffirmed his bail, which was set at $100,000 ($10,000 cash bond).
