SALINE CO.— A West Frankfort man has been jailed after police say he was thumped with a board by the woman whose garage he broke into.
According to information filed in the case, on May 14, authorities responded to 1395 Walnut Grove Rd., Harrisburg, on a report that Nathan D. Moore, 36, of 302 North Illinois Ave., West Frankfort, had busted into the garage of Angelique J. Murrow.
Murrow told police that she heard a noise inside her garage and when she went out to investigate she spotted a male inside her locked garage.
Murrow said that she yelled the man to identify himself but all he did was begin walking toward her in an aggressive manner.
She said that out of fear that she would be assaulted, she grabbed a board that was lying on the ground and struck Moore with it.
She said that at that time she noticed the window to her garage had been busted out and that was how she believed Moore entered the garage.
Murrow advised that after she clubbed Moore, he took off running through an adjoining field and Murrow had enough time to contact neighbors who detained Moore until police arrived.
Moore was transported without incident to the county detention center where he was booked on felony charges of Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property.
Cash bond in the case was set at $1,000.
Burgles big screen from Burns
A Harrisburg man free on $1,000 cash bond in a drug case has been charged with four felony counts in a separate case.
Information filed in the case alleges that on March 22 Devyn B. Byrd, 19, of 719 Water St., Harrisburg, knowingly
damaged a door while he entered a building belonging to Brian Burns, located at 150 Baker Lane, Harrisburg.
