HARRISBURG, Ill. - While the frequency of shootings in Harrisburg has waned since most of the mid-size players are in jail or prison, they're still happening...and the participants still can't hit the broad side of a barn.
According to a post on Harrisburg PD's Facebook page, that's the case with what happened yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, July 9).

On Tuesday July 9, 2019 at approximately 4:35 p.m., Saline County Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting shots being fired in the 1000 block of Dorris St. Telecommunicators received reports that two males were seen discharging firearms in front of the residence at 1018 Dorris St.
Harrisburg Officers responded to the call. Once officers arrived on scene, the block was secured and numerous attempts were made to contact the subjects inside of the residence by a loudspeaker.
Officers talked a male out of the residence and he was taken into custody without incident. That male was identified as Christopher T. Ward, 36 of Harrisburg.
During the investigation, officers learned from witnesses that Ward and another male, who was identified as Keiwan A. Taylor, 29 of Harrisburg, were both seen shooting guns in the direction of each other. Officers later located Taylor at a residence on North Jackson St. where he too was taken into custody without incident.
Ward was informally charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Without the Requisite FOID Card.
Taylor was informally charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon Without the Requisite FOID Card.
Both men were lodged at the Saline County Detention Center.
The Saline County Sheriffs Department, Eldorado Police Department, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services assisted at the scene.
