Photos of the home belonging to Jason Kasair, owner of Beck’s Drugs in Eldorado, were shot from a location across from the property and on a public way…but someone (who identified himself as Jason Kasair) was still unhappy with that arrangement, and nearly tore into reporter Lyndi Bowman’s car in order to try and get at her personal property (a camera and cell phone) in an apparent attempt to stop photos from being published…even before he was aware that Bowman was a Disclosure correspondent.

ELDORADO—The fire that gutted the beautiful home of Beck’s Drugs pharmacy owner Jason Kasair on Friday, November 15, brought out an ugly display on public property in front of the horse stables there…but whether officials will do anything about it remains to be seen.

Disclosure correspondent Lyndi Bowman attended the fire in the early afternoon, following fire and emergency officials onto the property at 8390 U.S. 45 North as others with cameras and equipment were doing, since the property was not marked with any ‘no trespassing’ signs.

In an attempt to speak with homeowners, Bowman identified a woman on the premises who appeared to be speaking to others about it, but advised that she didn’t want to talk to Bowman, so Bowman left the property and moved to an area of public access: the roadway in front of the horse stables across the highway from the burning two-story brick home.

After capturing the fire response on film (the flames were by and large snuffed out by the time Bowman had arrived, but firefighters were putting out hot spots), she observed the woman with whom she spoke on the property “stomping across the yard” toward her.

Screen Shot 2013-11-25 at 2.19.01 PMSeeing a confrontation as unnecessary, Bowman began backing up from her position on the highway right-of-way to the stables and prepared to leave, but at that moment, a large red pickup truck pulled out from the driveway of the burning house and drove across the highway into the stables driveway, nearly striking the back of her car, and effectively pinning Bowman’s vehicle between the gates of the horse stables and the truck.

The man and woman, as well as several other adults and children, surrounded Bowman’s car and began yelling at her about taking photos, to which she responded, through a partially rolled-down driver’s side window, that she had been directed by her boss to go to a public way and take photos from there, since that act is not prohibited under any law.

The man behind the wheel of the truck leaned very close to the open window, screaming “Who do you think you are? Give me your damn camera chip and phone!”

Bowman responded as calmly as possible that it was her property, and she would not turn it over to him. At that point, the man stuck his hand through the open portion of the window, demanding Bowman hand him her private property and screaming at her the entire time.

It wasn’t until this point that the man demanded Bowman tell him who she worked for; and when she advised him, he began screaming the usual insults that accompany the opinions of the uneducated when it comes to Disclosure.

Further, his insults were hurled toward Bowman personally, including “You’re a f^*king terrible person” and “You make me sick,” among others that Bowman reported later she could not directly remember, as she was trying to avoid the flailing hand and arm inside her vehicle while the man flung invectives at her. Ultimately, he screamed “And you can print that. My name is Jason Kasair!” while pointing at her face.

The man then marched off to make a cell phone call, still screaming. Bowman advised him that he could do what he wished, but that she hadn’t violated any laws and was only doing her job.

“Oh YEAH?” the man screamed. “What if it was my job to kick your ass!!!?”

Bowman advised that if he continued to attempt to physically touch her, she would be forced to deploy pepper spray on him.

“You’ll go to prison, and I will sue you for damages,” she said to his earlier threat of bodily harm. “It’s not worth it!”

Nevertheless, the man demanded she give her name, and at that point began taking down her license plate information.

The women with the man, seeing his unbelievable display of belligerence and threatened physical harm, begged Bowman “not to do anything to him,” as if Bowman were the perpetrator instead of the man.

“How would you feel if you were in our shoes?” one woman implored Bowman.

Bowman advised that within the past nine months, she had lost her husband to suicide and a 9-year-old nephew to a shotgun blast in the face.

“Both of their deaths were in the papers,” Bowman said, which seemed to calm down the women present. “I understand your pain, but this isn’t the way to be behaving.”

The women asked Bowman why she hadn’t just left the area; Bowman said she was trying to, but the man in the red truck had pinned her in.

The man had, by this point, locked himself in the red truck and was talking animatedly on the phone. The women were able to get him to move, and Bowman left.

A full report was turned over to authorities at the Saline County State’s Attorney’s office the following Monday, Nov. 18. It remains unclear whether or not the man who identified himself as Jason Kasair actually was Kasair, as neither Bowman nor anyone on staff are familiar with him, although a photo of Kasair supplied to Bowman later that day was tentatively identified as such.
