SALINE CO., Ill./Evansville, Ind.—The man who was successfully able to elude an Illinois State Police trooper last week was located Saturday night in Evansville.
Authorities aren’t saying what the circumstances were that led to the apprehension of Arnold S. Cornett, 26, a Stonefort-area man who had been on the run since a March 24 traffic stop by Trooper Brett Lane in Saline County, but it’s been confirmed that he is currently being housed in the Vanderburgh County Jail and has been since Saturday night.
About the time Lane was learning the details about Cornett being wanted on a warrant out of Albany County, Wyoming, this during the expired plate registration on the main drag in Harrisburg on March 24, Cornett was able to elude the trooper and a manhunt ensued, with Harrisburg police chasing the still-handcuffed Cornett. He was able to successfully escape at that time.
His friends have since come to the fore telling people that Cornett was basically harmless; he just apparently didn’t want to be taken in.
He’ll be facing charges in Saline in addition to the Wyoming situation; more on that as we get it.
