SALINE CO.—Shelly James, the grandmother of the late Jessika Rena James (who died at the hand of Ricky Turner in 2009), was found dead this morning at a friend’s home.
While details are sketchy, our Saline and Gallatin county sources are advising that Ms. James had been staying at a friend’s house in a location not known to us at the moment, and when that friend went to wake her, the friend discovered that Ms. James had passed.
No one has advised at this time what the cause of death was; we don’t have Ms. James’ age yet.
Shelly was the mother of Brandi James, the woman whose little girl, Jessika, was taken from her at age 4 by the brutal Ricky Turner, found guilty of Jessika’s murder back in March in a weeks-long trial in Saline County, hence the dateline for this article. If we learn that Ms. James, who hailed from Gallatin County, had actually been in another location at the time of her death, we’ll update.
In the meantime, we send our sympathies to the family and especially Brandi; all of them have been through an enormous amount of heartache over the past several years.
