SALINE CO.— A dust-up between a Harrisburg couple has landed the boyfriend in jail on drug charges.
The incident kicked off January 29 at approximately 8:21 a.m. when authorities received a call from a female at 505 West South, St., Harrisburg, saying she wanted her boyfriend removed from her house, when the call was abruptly disconnected.
When authorities attempted a reestablish contact, they were unable to get a response and so officers converged on the residence.
They arrived to find Terra Russell, 27, crying, upset and holding an infant.
She told officers that she had been in an argument with her boyfriend, Kory Ray Potts, 31, who lived with her but that she didn’t know if he was still present.
Russell said she had come home from dropping her daughter at school to find Potts still in bed and said something that caused him to jump up and lunge at her.
She refused to tell officers if there was actually any physical contact, saying that she only wanted him removed from the house.
She did say she had tried to call 911 several times only to have Potts take the phone from her.
Russell said she wanted to get away from him because he would only become more violent.
Officers determined that Potts was nowhere in the residence but later found him walking westbound on Ledford Street near Raymond Street.
When Potts was informed he was going to be taken into custody for interfering with a domestic violence call, he complained that Russell was still able to make the call.
When Potts was released to jail staff for booking, a search of his person is said to have revealed him to be in possession of one multi-colored glass pipe with suspected cannabis in it.
He also had two Enfamil baby formula cans, one containing four sandwich bags of suspected cannabis and the other, two bags of suspected cannabis and nine empty sandwich bags.
The substance in the bags tested positive for cannabis.
Potts was booked on formal charges of Unlawful Manufacture/Delivery of Cannabis 10-30 grams, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis 10-30 grams and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Potts’ history is largely unremarkable, given it occurred in Saline: he was arrested June 19, 2010 and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (prescription medication) and Driving Under the Influence.
He pleaded guilty to the DUI charge in return for the drug charge being dismissed and was sentenced to 18 months court supervision.
Potts was released from police custody Feb. 5 after a $750 cash bond had been posted on his behalf by Kathy Potts of the 700 block of South Ledford St., Harrisburg.
Pills at ROC One
In an unrelated story, an Eldorado woman who was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant was found to be in possession of drugs, according to police.
Court documents indicate that on Feb. 16, Eldorado officer Jerod Gott spotted Camron M. Horton, age 34, of the 900 block of Fourth St., Eldorado, at the local ROC One on State Street and Locust Street.
Gott knew Horton had an active warrant for her arrest and advised her of same, asking if she had anything illegal on her person.
Horton told Gott that she had two Lortabs.
Horton was taken to the county jail and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (prescription medication, Lortabs).
The warrant Horton was wanted on, which caused to her be caught holding the pills, was from July 5, 2014 for… Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance identified as Oxycodone and Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud.
Horton was released from police custody Feb. 20, after a $1,000 cash bond was posted on her behalf by Steven R. Willis, of the 700 block of Madison St., Eldorado.
