SALINE CO., Ill. - A Carrier Mills woman is in an Evansville hospital tonight after sustaining injuries in a cash on Illinois 13 in Saline County earlier this morning
The crash occurred on Illinois Route 13 westbound, 2 miles east of Carrier Mills Road this morning, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 8:26 a.m.
According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser, Kristen Lee Day, 27, was traveling westbound on Illinois Route 13 in the passing lane. Day was initially able to drive the vehicle back onto the roadway, before she lost control of the vehicle and it began sliding across the pavement and into the median, where it overturned.
Day was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. A 17-year-old female passenger from Harrisburg who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained only minor injuries. Both Day and her passenger were transported from the scene to local hospitals. Day was later transferred to a hospital in Evansville, Indiana. The vehicle had to be towed from the crash scene.
Illinois State Police District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Saline County Sheriff's Office, Harrisburg Police Department, Harrisburg Fire Department, Saline County Ambulance Service, and Bishop's Towing.
Day was cited for Driving Too Fast for Conditions, Improper Lane Usage, and Failure to Wear a Seatbelt.
