Garden of the Gods
SALINE CO., Ill. - A Louisiana woman was injured following a fall at the Garden of the Gods Saturday.
Saline County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting the fall Saturday afternoon, September 5, 2015.
Saline County deputies responded to the 1:15 p.m. call to the Garden of the Gods, along with Saline County EMS and the Equality Fire Department.
Linda, J. Cross, 23, of Baton Rouge. Louisiana fell approximately 15 feet. Cross was flown from the scene by Air Evac helicopter to an Evansville, Indiana hospital with a head injuries.
Saline County Sheriff Keith Brown urges caution while in the Garden of Gods. “As the leaves begin to change color, more and more visitors come out to the park. Visitors should wear good footwear and appropriate clothing, while hiking in and along the trails.” The trails and rocks can become very slippery from falling leaves or even damp conditions.
“It takes a while for responders to make it to the wilderness area and cell reception in the park is poor at times, be prepared,” continued Sheriff Brown.
