SALINE CO., Ill. - An Illinois Youth Center inmate who attacked a guard at the Harrisburg facility found out the hard way that no one is going to take pity on him just because he's been a juvenile detainee.

On January 28, 2016, a Saline County jury found Kameron R. Moore, age 18, of Rock Island, Illinois guilty of a Class 2 felony charge of Aggravated Battery.

Moore’s conviction arose out of an incident in which it was alleged he struck and tackled Jacob Miller, while Miller was working as a guard at IYC‐Harrisburg.

Because Moore was 18 years old when he committed the offense, he was prosecuted in adult court by Saline County Assistant State’s Attorney Jayson Clark.

The investigation of Moore’s case was led by Officer Nathan Moore of the Harrisburg Police Department. Assistant State’s Attorney Jayson M. Clark handled the successful prosecution of the case, including trying the case before the jury.

Kameron Moore is scheduled to be sentenced on March 16, 2016.
