SALINE CO., Ill. - There's an Eldorado resident who seems to be a little confused about what constitutes an elected official.
We don't know who this character is...(we're in the process of finding out, though...), but he's...really not as informed as he'd like to think he is. Observe this rant from a couple of weeks ago, after the release of the most recent edition:
I guess he's missed the fact that we were a newspaper first, before we were a news "blog." But, he's young...we both have kids who were out of diapers by the time this guy was born. He continues:
I left the epic rant largely intact because he "knows why the caged bird sings" (whatever application THAT has in the scheme of things...) and you needed to see that paragraph in context, because "Jason Kasiar is a good man who lives, operates his business, raises his kids, and actually cares about things in Southern Illinois. He's not in it for a career, personal gain or to give his family jobs. He's in because normal people asked him to be."

And yet, it continues:
Joe, Joe, Joe...Jason Kasiar, first of all, is indeed an elected official.
In your blitheness, Joe, you must've overlooked the fact that in the April 2015 election, Kasiar ran for and attained a seat on the local school board (which he subsequently proceeded to use to his advantage...more on that in a few issues). That makes him, well....elected. And now, as most wannabe pols who start their ascent at the school board level do, he's running for State Representative on the Republican ticket for the 118th District. The very fact that his name is on the ballot makes him a public person...and brings into scrutiny his every act. Like what he's doing cavorting with a married woman, another candidate, Molly Wilson Dearing. Like his divorce, which is a front-page article this issue (and which is what apparently prompted Joe's misplaced and inaccurate dissension.)
Also, like what we're hearing happened recently at the Second Team Party at Morello's in Harrisburg.
It's our understanding that Kasiar, fairly inebriated, verbally accosted someone at the party in a room full of people. We understand that he even put his hands on his alleged victim, although that's not been substantiated yet. But the verbal accosting...? This wouldn't be the first time such a thing has occurred; read this article and this article.
We're working on this story. We're endeavoring to obtain the video from Morello's that shows this alleged act; we're hoping it shows the alleged victim. If we get it, we'll make it available to you right here at the website. If you know anything about it, feel free to contact us.
Basically...Jason Kasiar has a bad temper that can lead to one coming to be under the opinion that he's just a rotten person. But right now, he's apparently just mad that he's been outed on his affair with Molly. And as an elected official and public person, that is indeed NEWS, Joe Debose, whether you think it is or not...I mean, I'm just seeing your success all over area media, eh?
No. I'm not. So go ahead and post on your Fecesbook page about us all you want; we enjoy the influx of e-Edition subs when this happens. But keep an eye on things. If this alleged accosting is true, and the victim comes forward...that'll be another reason for people to call for Jason Kasiar to get off the ballot.
Not that there aren't already plenty.
