SALINE CO.— A low-level Gallatin County crim, formerly of Eldorado, has been busted in Harrisburg for stealing candy bars at Kroger.

According to official reports, on July 15 at approximately 12:07 p.m. Sgt. Michael Riden was dispatched to Kroger, located at 601 North Commercial St., in Harrisburg on a report of a shoplifter.

Upon arrival Riden discovered that loss prevention officer Bill Moore had the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Mykel A. Mull, of 8420 Smoki Rd., Shawneetown, in an upstairs office.

When questioned, Mull told Riden that he had taken several items including one Larabar Cashew Cookie, one Larabar Uber and one box of Reese’s Pieces, placed them in his pocket and left the store without paying for them only to be stopped by Moore, who identified himself and asked Mull to step back inside.

Subsequent to his arrest, Riden asked Mull if he had anything else on him and he said he did.

What it was, Riden soon discovered was a small plastic container that had 14 blue pills inside of it.

When asked what they were, Mull told Sgt. Riden they were xanax.

When asked if he had a prescription for them, Mull said no.

Mull said the pills actually belonged to his mother.

Moore told Riden that once he had Mull back inside the store he asked him if he could help him get rid of some pills before the police arrived.

“I told him I couldn’t do that,” Moore said.

The pills were later identified as alprazolam.

Mull was ultimately taken into custody and charged with one count each of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Retail Theft.

Believed to be connected with everything from cooking methamphetamine to gun-running, Mull is a convicted felon from 2009 when he was found guilty of Obstruction of Justice for which he was sentenced to 18 months probation and ordered to pay fines and fees in the amount of $1,764.25.

Cash bond in the case has been set at $1,000.

Rector is a convicted drug felon from 2008 after being found guilty of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (prescription medication) for which he was sentenced to 24 months probation and ordered to pay $1,625 in fines and fees.

As of press time there was no bond set in the case.
