HARRISBURG, Ill. - The fourth shooting in less than a week is making many nervous and worried, and Harrisburg's mayor says something is going to have to happen soon to bring it under control.

The latest, we're being told, occurred around 1:30 today (Monday, May 1), the location being somewhere around the 1100 block of South Granger, and South Webster; the two streets are a block apart.

Folks in that area advised us of the situation; however, they weren't sure of any injuries or arrests being reported about this one.

That was a little further north and east of the location of the second shooting, which occurred this past Friday in the Dorris Avenue area (reportedly not far from the Dorrisville Baptist Church).

The first shooting occurred last Tuesday at about 1:15 at a location on Raymond Street, and another was reported Friday (again) at Southeastern Illinois College outside of town.

After the report of the one this afternoon, we contacted Harrisburg Mayor John McPeek, who expressed his great concern about the shootings.

McPeek said he has spoken to the police commissioner about the situation, and it appears they might be developing a plan to combat the ongoing violence.

When we learn more, we'll post; keep watching.
