SALINE CO.— An area woman formerly of Hardin County and now of Pope County has been busted in Saline County with a pair from Massac County.

Details filed on the formal charge sheet alleges that on or about June 10, Radie R. Engelkens-Smith, 41, of 115 East Pope St., Golconda, committed the offense of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine after she was found to have on her person an amount of meth.
Engelkens-Smith’s criminal history includes a July 8, 2013 Pope County conviction for Unlawful Possession of Narcotics, for which she was sentenced to probation for 24 months and ordered to pay $3,502 in fines and fees of which he still owes $401.
A May 22, 2018 Hardin County conviction for Resisting a Peace Officer earned her a sentence of conditional discharge for 12 months and cost her $487 in fines and fees, of which he still owes $337.
Her Hardin County arrests include charges of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Driving Suspended and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
All charges were ultimately dismissed.
She was released from police custody June 26 on a $10,000 recognizance bond with conditions including that she submit to assessment and successfully complete all counseling and/or treatment recommended by the Egyptian Health Department.
Brookport meth
A Brookport man awaiting a drug possession trial in Massac County was also arrested June 10 in Saline.
Details in the case indicate the formal charge alleges that on June 10, John J. Stevens, 30, of 304 East 7th St., Brookport, also committed the offense of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine after he too was found to have on his person, according to police, less than five grams of the drug while in
Saline County.
Stevens’ criminal history is mainly in Massac County and includes an August 21, 2012 conviction for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursor, for which he was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections for four years and ordered to pay $180 in fines and fees.
He was arrested again in Massac County on April 22, 2015 and charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe.
Those charges were later dismissed.
At the time of his Saline County arrest, Stevens was awaiting trial in Massac in a February 11, 2017 case in which he is charged with Aggravated Fleeing Police, Speeding 35+ mph Over the Posted Limit and Reckless Driving.
He is also awaiting trial in a January 20, 2018 Massac case in which he is charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine.
On his affidavit of assets and liabilities Stevens claims be a single and disabled.
He was released from police custody June 11 on a $5,000 recognizance bond.
One more from B’port
A third individual busted June 10 in Saline has been identified as John G. Seigart, 59, of 102 East Eighth St., Brookport, formerly of Joppa.
Mr. Seigart stands charged with a single count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine after authorities say he was found with less than five grams of the drug on his person.
Seigart’s criminal history also comes largely out of Massac County and includes a March 6, 1997 conviction for Assault, which cost him $150 in fines and fees.
A Massac conviction January 13, 2000 for Domestic Battery Causing Bodily Harm garnered Seigart a sentence of conditional discharge for six months and $387 in fines and fees.
He was found guilty April 2, 2007 in Massac on a Disorderly Conduct charge and sentenced to conditional discharge for another six months and ordered to fork over another $407 in fines and fees.
A July 20, 2017 Seigart was found guilty on a Massac charge of Resisting a Peace Officer, for which he was sentenced to conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay $557 in fines and fees.
At the time of his Saline County arrest Seigart was awaiting trial in a March 31, 2018 case in which he is charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Seigart was released from police custody June 12 after a $294 cash bond was posted on his behalf by John Stevens.
All three defendants are expected back in court later this month.
