SALINE CO., Ill.—Saline County State’s Attorney Mike Henshaw has released information on a guilty plea occurring last week in circuit court.
On February 26, 2014, Michael J. Reyes, age 35, of Crystal Lake, Illinois pled guilty in Saline County, Illinois Circuit Court to a Class 1 felony charge of Criminal Sexual Assault of a Family Member Under the Age of Eighteen.
Judge Walden E. Morris will sentence Reyes on May 1, 2014. Due to the nature of the crime, Reyes is not eligible for probation and will receive between four and fifteen years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Reyes will also be required to register as a sexual offender for the rest of his life under Illinois law.
The investigation of the Michael Reyes case was led by Sgt. William Duncan and Detective Curt Hustedde of the Carrier Mills Police Department.
Former Saline County Assistant State’s Attorney Eva Walker handled the prosecution of Reyes until her departure from the State’s Attorney’s office in June, 2013. Following Ms. Walker’s departure, Assistant State’s Attorney Jayson M. Clark and Lorinda Lamken of the Illinois State’s Attorney’s Appellate Prosecutor’s Unit handled the successful prosecution of the case.
