WELCOME to the first issue of the 12th year of Disclosure! Almost all deliveries have been made, with a couple of locations to be picked up tomorrow (Thursday, March 20, 2014)…so let’s get started with THIS MONTH’S PRINT HEADLINES, where you can see what the paper contains and if you have an online subscription, you can click the headline (which is a link) and go right to the article to read it. Each headline is preceded by a dateline (where the material in the article took place) and followed by a brief synopsis in our own snarky commentary most of the time; and sections are broken down by page content and area of our region covered (Egypt, Heartland and Central)…so let’s get started with PRINT HEADLINES!

PAGE 1

Joe Galyean

Joe Galyean

RICHLAND CO.—Body found in rental home: While it was like pulling teeth from a non-numbed-up alligator, we got the info on the death of Joe Galyean that no one else has, and this is coming from those who knew him best. Find out where the whole situation stands, and what authorities, as well as those around Joe, are saying.

Nick Hess

Nick Hess

WILLIAMSON CO.—Civil suit filed after bar brawl: Remember the alleged stabbing that went down at Just One More Bar & Grill in Marion? The alleged stabbee remembers, too…and he’s going after the alleged stabber in civil court in Williamson County.

LAWRENCEVILLE—Baby abandoned at Walmart: More backstory than you can shake a stick at in the piece we were the first to bring you here online last week wherein the couple “forgot” their baby at Lawrenceville Walmart…then concocted a story to cover up the dumb.

SALINE CO.—Retirement funds threaten county: It’s not the fault of the county employees that they have massive retirement funds through IMRF that are breaking the county’s finances in order to fund them…or is it? Read this revealing article and decide for yourself, but remember…it’s not over. There’s still more coming out about this, and we’ll be bringing it to you in subsequent articles, so get in on the ground floor now so you won’t miss any of it.

Chrissy Williams, missing since December 2, 2013

Chrissy Williams, missing since December 2, 2013

HARDIN/POPE Cos.—Sister of missing woman arrested after fight: What’s become of the situation with missing woman Chrissy Williams, devolving into searchers grabbing frantically at straws that amount to trash in remote areas, slinging around phrases like “I’m gonna kill you,” entertaining what ‘psychics’ are telling them, and more…all in the span of about a week’s time.

Brandon Vaughn

WILLIAMSON CO.—First Degree Murder charged in infant’s death; father held on million dollar bail: Despite all the grumbling done by Courtney Marshall, the mother of baby Braysen Vaughn, it appears authorities DO believe the baby’s father Brandon Vaughn killed the three-month-old.

WHITE CO.—Dispatcher charged with jury tampering: Another one we called early on, this piece about Melissa Kittinger, reproduced here for our non-online readers’ benefit.

LAWRENCE CO.—ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGED: Tommy Shoulders is charged with attempted murder on his girlfriend Lea Nikki Piper Catt. Another one reproduced from online for our print-only readers…and with a little something extra at the end, for everyone else.

PAGE 2

Lil Ricky White

Lil Ricky White. No face. It’s on the radio station’s website.

WAYNE/WHITE COs.—Targeting continues: sex charge refiled: Just when you thought Rick White may have faded into obscurity, along comes a Wayne County case—that of Cody McVaigh—to pop lil Pricky back into the headlines. Someone at the Fairfield radio station must have a subscription to the e-Edition; Pricky’s gigantic face was on their site the next morning over a nonsense story, so he’s fighting back…but this one, and actually, BOTH cases outlined here in the page 2 article, he’s likely going to lose.

EGYPT

HARDIN CO.—Ambulance owner wants sheriff to dispatch non-emergency transfers at taxpayer expense: What the hell is Doc Collier up to now? he’s up to EXACTLY what he was doing in Saline County…and Hardin isn’t very happy about it.

HARRISBURG—Tornado funds part 6: The timing of Quinn’s visit to Harrisburg is odd: Do you know what happened right before Pat Quinn just out of the blue decided he was going to show up in Harrisburg in mid-October? We do. And we had something to do with it. Read this to see what it was.

SALINE CO.—Teens charged after spending the night joyriding in stolen water dept. truck: Did you know this happened? Kelly Hefner did. And it upset him pretty bad.

SALINE CO.—Cottage Township residents take road issues to the county board: Not everything at the Feb. 27 Saline County board meeting was wrapped up in pension disaster. Another disaster is brewing for Cottage Township, and the residents want assistance from the county board.

HARDIN CO.—Prosecutor’s secretary crowing about ice in the parking lot: Did you hear our podcast earlier this month? We touched upon this subject, which Ms. Tara Wallace’s secretary has validated in this article about the county board meeting. Siren, by the way, is well and has had kittens (listen to the podcast to know what we’re talking about).

SALINE CO.—Man charged with pushing mother to the ground: Dee Pelhank’s boy has some problems. Dee makes no excuses for him. More parents should be that way to their kids.

SALINE CO.—Marion man accused of smoking pot in jail cell: The only thing we didn’t find out was how on earth he got those joints in there.

WILLIAMSON CO.—Williamson County crim roundup this past month due largely to drug enforcement group: Our first full coverage of the past month’s crim report from Williamson County, despite the fact that the staff at the circuit clerk’s office says that none of the other newspapers report crimes when they’re filed because “they’re just allegations.” Well, yeah…that’s why they’re called “charges.” Which is what WE call them.

SALINE CO.—Teen beaten, held against her will: Bizarre situation of a lil-too-clingy-boyfriend in Eldorado, handled well by the law there.

ELIZABETHTOWN—E-town looking for line of credit/loan from local bank to repay sewer fund: If you ever wonder if a city council or village board is up to no good and they know it, listen to what they DON’T want to say in front of the media. Then read it in our paper.

CARRIER MILLS—Agenda shuffled to ensure enough votes were present to pass TIF district resolution: TIF Districts are just a bad idea, doesn’t matter where they are. But when they’re established in a village of less than 1900 souls and the city council has to take out a LOAN just to set one up, there’s a problem.

SALINE CO.—Suspect says she ‘accidentally hit, kicked’ responding police officer: Another Eldorado crim piece, about antics in ice and snow and trying to cover for someone who wasn’t supposed to be where he was.

Brenda whatever-her-last-name-is-these-days

Brenda whatever-her-last-name-is-these-days, learning not to slap at the hornet’s nest.

GALLATIN CO.—Orders of protection violated and tires slashed in Gallatin County: What’s Brenda Byassee/whatever name she’s going by these days’ pic doing in the midst of all this crim activity? Well, one reason is that we never can get mugs from Gallatin County. Another would be because it’s pertinent to a piece in the article.

WILLIAMSON CO.—Gives next council a raise: Marion city council, with their decrepit mayor, has given the “next” council (whom we’re just certain they’ll make sure are THEM) a raise.

MARION—Injunction entered in gun range incident: Ongoing coverage of the situation between the International Union of Operating Engineers and Tombstone gun range out on the west edge of Marion, with complete coverage of the injunction issued against Tombstone on behalf of IUOE.

Robert Blackwell, after initial chemo

MARION—Missouri man comes to Illinois for medical marijuana to treat pancreatic cancer: What do you do when you’re in Missouri and your chances of surviving a deadly form of cancer are next to nil? You move to Illinois and improve your chances dramatically.

HARRISBURG—City of Harrisburg can’t hire more firefighters…but can give clerk a raise: Talk about your disparity in priorities. This is coverage of the meeting where in one breath, Ron Fearheiley says the city can’t afford to put on more firefighters so those with fires outside city limits can have their homes and loved ones saved…and in the next breath, gives the undeserving city clerk a wambo raise.

HEARTLAND

EDGAR CO.—Civil suit that prompted board chair’s resignation refiled in Edgar: The citizens of Edgar County voting district no. 3 have once again taken their grievances to court, this time seeking redress from other entities besides just former county board chairman Chris Patrick.

Logan L. Bruner

CRAWFORD CO.—Oblong teen charged in Crawford County Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault case: Young man’s mom pops on our Facebook page and lends a hand in telling the story of why this all went down.

CRAWFORD CO.—Palestine couple convicted of Truancy: Here’s another one where the details of what’s NOT told HAVE to be much more interesting than even these kids’ strange ‘eee’ names….but not quite as interesting as the latest Palestine news about Josh Green.

CRAWFORD CO.—Hoosier trio face home repair fraud charges: Three guys from Indiana come to Illinois and learn the hard way they shouldn’t take advantage of a senior citizen.

CRAWFORD CO.—Sex offender charged with battery, resisting: Crawford County crim roundup.

JASPER CO.—Alcohol, drugs and gambling make up majority of Jasper police report: The Jasper County crim roundup, featuring some of the usual suspects.

CENTRAL

Miz Murbarger with the mudders, aka Pond Creek Pink Panty Riders.

Miz Murbarger, on right, with the mudders, aka Pond Creek Pink Panty Riders.

WAYNE CO.—Officials refusing to release info in drowning of trooper’s wife: Yes, we know that statutorily, coroners have the option of charging $50 for a coroner’s report, and $25 for a tox report, and that we can write it off as a biz expense. But they can’t charge that for INSPECTION.

LAWRENCEVILLE—Chief solves vandalism with juvenile arrest: Jim White has been L’ville police chief for just a few months and what happens? We find out not only that there IS crime in Lawrenceville, but that Jim White is perfectly capable of solving it…not only quickly, but efficiently and with the minimum of hurt feelings in this Politically Castrated world.

CLAY CO.—Driver charged in DUI crash that disfigured; Flood violence, and precursors: The Clay County crim report has quite a few repeat offenders, one of them you’ll recognize from last summer.

Jamie Brunson, about to be exonerated?

Jamie Brunson, about to be exonerated?

LAWRENCE CO.—Motion to dismiss scheduled in 2010 felony battery case: Will Jamie Brunson’s local case really be dismissed in April? Not only are we hearing that it will, but we’ve also obtained depositions in his federal civil case against Max Schauf and Lisa Wade…more to come on that, and it is INTRIGUING.

WHITE CO.—Drugs and theft top White police blotter; repeat offender charged with meth in mail: Yes we’re talking about none other than local troublemaker Luke Burnett, but he’s not the only one in the White crim roundup. Read it for lots more.

WABASH CO.—Lots of disfigurement going on in Mt. Carmel this past month: Missing a piece of your ear? You might wanna run it past this gal named, appropriately enough, Batterton; see if she’s bitten it off.

EDWARDS CO.—Albion woman charged with giving a fake name: A little bit of crim roundup in EC.

LAWRENCE CO.—Man charged with grabbing/pulling officer’s penis/testicles: Apparently they resist arrest a little differently in Manchester, Tennessee, if this guy’s actions are any indication. We didn’t ask Ryan Curtis how bad it was, however.

RICHLAND CO.—Revenue from drug arrests, fines and fees continue to fill county coffers: The drug trail through Richland is alive and active and getting people busted left and right.

CRAWFORD CO.—Pills and meth make up majority of drug arrests: More Crawford crim reports booted over from the Heartland pages because we ran out of room.

HAMILTON CO.—Driver gets two years for DUI, companion dog shot and thousands stolen via debit card: The Hamilton County crim roundup, not as lively as last month, but pretty good nonetheless.

CLAY CO.—Flora sex offender fails to register, Jim Beam whiskey heist solved: Jerry Miller is becoming, if not a menace, then certainly a pest; and other alleged crims rounded up in this report.

OLNEY—Olney citizens upset about snow removal; street supervisor resigns over the matter: As well, there’s a guy who was treated VERY badly by water department personnel; it never ceases to amaze us the horrible way “public” employees treat the PUBLIC.

WABASH CO.—Wabash drug arrests nab three in Mt. Carmel: The WabCo alleged dope crim roundup, not as exciting as being battered by Batterton, but then, she can’t be EVERYWHERE. Or can she….?

RICHLAND CO.—All expenditures questioned…except sheriff’s: Coverage of the March Richland County board meeting, where the griping all but ceased when it cam time to pay Andy’s bills.
