SALINE CO., Ill.—Saline County State’s Attorney Mike Henshaw has announced a sentencing of a local meth deliverer.
Martin Amburgey Jr., 45, of Harrisburg, pled guilty and was sentenced yesterday, March 19, 2014 in Saline County Circuit Court by Judge Walden E. Morris to 14 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, 3 years mandatory supervised release and costs.
Amburgey pled guilty to Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine, a Class 2 felony. Class 2 felonies are normally punishable by a term of 3 to 7 years in DOC. However, based on Amburgey’s previous criminal history, an extended term sentence was imposed.
The Illinois State Police/Souther Illinois Drug Task Force led the investigation of Amburgey. On June 27, 2013, the Drug Task Force conducted an undercover operation using a confidential source to purchase meth from Amburgey. Amburgey delivered a quarter gram of meth to the confidential source in exchange for $100 in Harrisburg.
Assistant State’s Attorney Jason A. Olson led the successful prosecution of Amburgey.
