HAMILTON CO., Ill.---An Eldorado man is headed to prison out of Hamilton County after he defrauded the public for donations, stating his daughter had died.
Matthew Stout, 39 of Eldorado, was sentenced to 4 years in Illinois Department of Corrections on a felony theft, Class 4, which occurred on March 6, according to Hamilton County State's Attorney Justin Hood. Stout will serve 1 year parole after release.
Hood said that Stout defrauded several individuals in to giving him money by saying he had a daughter who died when after investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office found that to be false.
He was arrested on March 10, 2015, and is currently being held in the White County jail.
