SALINE CO.— An Eldorado convicted drug felon has been charged with a pair of felonies after police say he stole from his mother and gambled the cash away.

According to court documents, on February 7, at approximately 10:04 a.m. Eldorado patrolman James Williams and chief of police Shannon Deuel responded to reports that Terry Maddox had contacted dispatch and reported that her son, identified as Michael J. Bonneville, 27, who lives at 616 Madison St., Eldroado, with her, “has a drug problem, had taken money out of her wallet and her debit card a couple days earlier without her permission.”

She said that in the past her son had taken her money and gambled with it.

Maddox informed the officers that she had hidden $525 in her wallet and tucked it under the pillow on her bed.

She said that when she got up that morning her son was mad and taking photographs “of everything in the house” threatening to “sell it all.”

She said her son then stormed out of the house, saying he was headed to the library to upload the pictures to the internet and sell her household items.

Maddox said when she went to check to make sure her money was still safe, it was gone.

Williams and Deuel located Bonneville walking, with a black satchel, westbound on Locust Street.

When asked, Bonneville denied taking money from his mother.

Bonneville went on to give officers consent to search the satchel in which they discovered a small electronic children’s game.

He was asked again about money and if he had any in his pockets.

Bonneville said no and gave permission to be searched.

Officer Williams located a small silver tin in Bonneville’s left pocket.

Bonneville quickly claimed the silver tin was not his but gave no indication as to how it got there.

Officers found inside the tin a small baggie of a white powder that tested positive for meth.

Bonneville said that he was a drug addict and that he was going to rehab soon.

He also said he got the meth from Meghan Cook, adding that “he could get us anyone we wanted because he didn’t want to go to jail.”

Officers also found five gambling vouchers from Huck’s.

When asked about taking the money from his mother, Bonneville admitted it and said that his intention was to double her money (not to be confused with giving her double her money back).

Bonneville’s criminal history includes a conviction November 21, 2012 for driving Revoked for which he was sentenced to probation for 30 months and ordered to pay $3,239 in fines and fees.

When Bonneville strewed up the terms of that probation with a conviction March 28, 2013 for Criminal Trespass to Residence, he was re-sentenced September 4, 2014 to the Illinois Department of Corrections for four years.

He still owes $3,837.60 in fines and fees from that trespass case.

And at the time of his most recent arrest, Bonneville was already serving a probation sentence, handed him February 1, 2017, following a conviction for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance for which he was sentenced to probation for 12 months and an order to undergo alcohol treatment and to fork over $3,101 in fines and fees, of which he still owes $2,601.

Mr. B was ultimately charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Theft $500-$10,000.

Cash bond in the case of the divorced, unemployed, nearly 30-year-old-living-with-his-mother has been set at $1,000.
